Lola (Allum) Lewis

On Thursday, May 15, Lola E. Lewis, 90, of Dilliner, PA, left her earthly home for her heavenly home. She was at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. Her son, daughter and daughter-in-law were at her side when she passed. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, Lola had been a lifelong resident of Greene County, PA, until late 2011, at which time she moved to eastern Pennsylvania to stay with her daughter and son-in-law. Most recently, she was residing with her son and daughter-in-law in Stevensville, Montana. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Susie Jane (Bissett) Allum. Lola was a hard worker her entire life. She was employed in the Comptroller's Office at West Virginia University for many years followed by work at Davis Lynch Glass Factory in Morgantown, from where she retired. Lola volunteered for the Red Cross and a local food bank. She loved serving others and was notorious for her culinary and baking skills, the products of which she lovingly shared. Her heart and home were always welcoming to friends and to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She absolutely delighted in time spent with the great grandchildren, having her own special names for each one. "Gram" had a way of speaking directly to the heart. Everyone who knew Lola was blessed by her sincere honesty, wit, and dedication to serving the Lord. Surviving are her son; Alan Lewis and wife Sherry, of Stevensville; her daughter, Peggy McQueen and husband Todd, of Mertztown, Pa.; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Amy Lewis, Wendy and Shane Hendershot, Craig and Kelley Lewis, Becky and Nathaneal Palm, and Bethany Ward; 15 great grandchildren, Brianna, David, Kristen and Jonathan Lewis, Brody and Gage Hendershot, Ezekiel and Eli Lewis, Daniel, Isaiah, and Gabrielle Lola Palm, and Brandon, Hayleigh, Caleb, and Victoria Ward, and a brother, Gary Allum, of Youngstown, Ohio. Deceased is her husband, Frank Lewis on Jan. 19, 1996; three children in infancy; three brothers, James, Enlo, and Daniel Allum; and two sisters, Myrle Robinson on Feb. 13, 2014, and Mary Ellen Southerland. Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Philip S. Rishel, Owner and Director, on Tuesday from 5 – 8 PM, and Wednesday until 11:00 AM, the hour of service, with Rev. Joseph Hicks officiating. Interment follows in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner.
