Larry P. Marks

Larry P. Marks, 74, of Farmington, Pa., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the Uniontown Hospital, following a courageous two year battle with cancer. Born Feb. 22, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of the late Edwin and Sarah Hogsett Marks. A 1968 graduate of Uniontown High School, he retired from Kennemetal Inc. as a senior computer analysis and project manager, and had previously worked for Jessop Steel in Washington, Pa. He also enjoyed working with his hands which is evident in the house he built, the gardens he grew and the art he created. Larry was first and foremost a devoted servant to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He proved this by using the gifts God gave him in the church. He was a member of Wharton Furnace Union Church and served in several capacities including President of the Board. His heart was always to grow God's kingdom and to finish the race set before him (Hebrews 12:1) and hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:21) Always willing to help anyone and in any way he could, Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Kathy (Warman) Marks, two children and their spouses, Christopher and Erika Marks of Dublin, Ohio, and Erica and Steven Cahall of Farmington; five grandchildren, Laura Marks, Madison and Logan Cahall, and James and Sarah Burchfield; a brother, Stanley Marks of North Carolina, three sisters, Ruby Baker and Margaret Sheets, both of California, Pa. and Twila Hall of Baden, Pa.: a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother, Harry Marks, and sisters Lena Van Voorhis, Grace Cseko, Betty Angelo, Joyce Smith and Doris Swaney. The family will receive friends in the Farmington Bethel Church of the Brethren, Elliottsville Road, Farmington, Pa., on Friday from 11:00 AM, until the 1:30 PM hour of service, with Rev. Vincent Cable and Pastor Nick Mitchell officiating. Interment follows in the church cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Philip S.
