Ruth Eleanor West

Ruth Eleanor (Floyd) West, 86, of Point Marion, Pa., went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from her home, with her loving family at her side. A native of Dilliner, Pa., she was born Dec. 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Halfin Floyd. Also deceased is her husband of 50 years, William Delmon West in 1993; a son, Larry E. West in 2009; two sisters, Rosemary Gray and Hazel Robinson; and five brothers, Clyde, Charley, Chester and Eugene Floyd and Burdell Halfin. Ruth Eleanor was a life-time member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Dilliner, former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Taylortown and Point Marion, and had worked for a while at Houze Glass in Point Marion. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking, and working with ceramics. She also enjoyed bowling, where she played in league tournaments and received many trophies over the years. Listening to the Gaithers’ gospel music brought her great pleasure, as did spending time with her loving family and her two dear friends and neighbors of nearly 50 years, Marguerite Kennedy and Betty Jenkins. Surviving is one daughter, Bonnie Leitter and husband Ron of Point Marion; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ralph and Jackie (Medved) Fowler, Tim and Marsha (Colebank) Fowler, all of Point Marion, Tammy (Fowler) and Kevin Grubb of Morgantown, Shane West and Morrow West, both of Arkansas; five step-grandchildren, Lee Leitter of Florida, Shannon Leitter of Cheat Lake, W.Va., Sandra and Russ Murray of Lake Lynn, Pa., Chris and Bruce Clites of Greensboro, Pa., and Kevin and Diana Leitter of Point Marion; 16 great-grandchildren, T.J., Ashley, Lindsey, Zachary, William, Shelby and Erin Fowler, Jason Colebank, Bruce and Dominque Clites, Heather, Tyler and Chelsea Grubb, Ryan, Mark and Page Leitter; nine great-great-grandchildren, Riley and Dylan Fowler, Addison Nickleson, Lauren Watson, Alyssa, Madison and Arionia West, Chase Colebank and Lillyanna Plum; five sisters-in-law, Mary Murray, Shirley Baker, Priscilla Jo Brown, Elizabeth West and Susan West; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., and Saturday, August 28, 2010, until 11:00 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. Scott Teets officiating. Interment follows in Fairview Cemetery, Taylortown, Pa.
