Rose M. Vanata

November 20, 1919 - April 9, 2022

Rose Marie Vanata, 102, of Dilliner, Pa., passed away peacefully Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Stonerise Nursing Home in Morgantown. Born in Hepzibah, W.Va. on Nov. 20, 1919, she was a daughter of the late William and Carmella (Matucci) Patrick. A faithful member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, she had previously worked as a cashier at the Hills Department Store in Star City. Surviving are three children, Blanche Vincent-Rowan and husband Gene of Fairmont, Jo Carroll Onoffrey of Bethany Beach, DE, and William F. “Bud” Vanata and wife Barbara of Dilliner; 15 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Herald Yochum; and Ruth Wilt of Tampa, Fla., who was raised in Rose’s home as her daughter, along with her sister, Jennie Buttermore, now deceased. The last of her immediate family, she was predeceased by three brothers, Joe, James, and Frank “Vestie” Patrick, and a sister Elizabeth. Also deceased is her husband, Benjamin Franklin Vanata in 1997; a daughter, Rose Mary Yochum; and two sons-in-law, Ted Vincent and Mike Onoffrey Rose had a long and wonderful life. She was dearly loved by her family, and will be missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM., and Thursday, April 14th, from 10 until the 11 AM hour of service, with Jonathan Stevens, Minister, officiating. Interment follows in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Bunner’s Ridge, W.Va.
