Mary Terlesky Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Terlesky, 95, of Newtown, Dilliner, Pa., died Monday, September 28, 2015 in the Point Manor Personal Care Home in Point Marion. Born June 27, 1920 in Brownsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Julia (Toth) Shevenok. She was a faithful member of St. Ignatius R.C. Church in Bobtown. Mary enjoyed looking after her home and her family, and in her spare time she liked to bowl, crochet, and plant many different kinds of flowers in her colorful flower gardens. In her early years, she worked as a nanny for families in Brooklyn, New York, and later as a housekeeper for the nuns at St. Colman’s at Turtle Creek, near Pittsburgh. She enjoyed music, especially big bands and polkas, and liked to dance to that music. Mary was very fond of her large collection of beautiful dolls that she had collected over the years. Surviving are her two loving and devoted sons, Michael Terlesky of Dilliner and Joseph Terlesky of Zelienople, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Her husband of 62 years, Mike Terlesky, passed away on Dec. 20, 2010. Also deceased is a brother, Emery, in 1936. Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m., and Friday until 9:15 a.m., when a prayer service will be held, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, Bobtown at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. Parish vigil service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
