Jerry E. Shiflett Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jerry E. "Toots" Shiflett. Sr., 72, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Everettville, W.Va. on Aug. 25, 1942, he was a son of the late Hughie H. and Pearl Shiflett. A 1961 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jerry was a coal miner, retired from Duquesne Light. He was a member of the Morgantown Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ, and of the Point Marion American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma (Jeffries) Shiflett; four children and their spouses: Teresa and Jerry Acker of Smithfield, Pa., Jerry and Brenda Shiflett, Jr. of Greensboro, Pa., Robin and Kevin Ruckle of Morgantown, W.Va., and Terrence “Claude” Shiflett of Point Marion; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Clive Harvey, Matt and Erika Shiflett, Cynthia and Brian Gust, Lindsay and Matt Dobrick, Jessica and Greg Oddo, Shawn Votuc, Ryan and Tiffany Shiflett, and Jacob Shiflett, and six great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda Popovich of Smithfield; cousin Kenny McCauley of Ohio; many family and friends, and his furry little buddies, Spencer, Zelda, and Zoey who never left his side . Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M., and Tuesday until 11:00 A.M., the hour of service, with Elder David Joyce officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, with military rites accorded at the graveside by the Point Marion Veterans Posts.
