Geraldine A. Heft

Geraldine A. Heft, 80, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at her home. Born May 22, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Bentley) Betters. She was a faithful member for many years of St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, and the Rosary Altar Society, where she helped to initiate their Prayer Shawl ministry. Even through her illness of the past five years, she continued to crochet hats for the homeless. Surviving are her children, William Heft, Nina McMorrow and husband David, all of New Geneva, and Gretchen Kaczmarczyk and husband Chris of Point Marion, with whom she made her home; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Tia, Ben, Billy, Charlie, John, Christopher and Shawn; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlena Maher of Texas; a niece Susie; and two nephews, Raymond and Butch. She was predeceased by her husband, William Heft, III on Dec. 20, 2008, and by a brother, William Betters, and two sisters, Rachel Sokolowski and Catherine Roberto. The family will receive friends in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Point Marion. Interment follows in Mount St. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, 50 N. Morgantown St., Fairchance, PA 15436.
