Daniel A. Shubert Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Daniel A. Shubert, 73, of Mapletown, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at his home. Born July 22, 1947 in Waynesburg, he was a son of the Naomi (Marshall) Shubert of Mapletown, and the late Daniel C. Shubert. After attending Mapletown High School, he joined the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Following several tours of duty, during which time he received a Purple Heart Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, for performing well under fire at great personal risk, he also earned the nickname “Machine Gun Shubert” for saving his platoon. Danny came back home after his service commitment, and worked in a number of auto body repair shops in the area. In addition to his mother, surviving is his wife, Betsy (Tanner) Shubert; three sisters and their husbands, Winnie Cech (Ed) of Greensboro, Trudi Monahan (Bill) of Dilliner, and Nanette Ross (Scott) of Alabama; and several loving nieces and nephews and their families, including John Cech, who has been his caretaker for the past several years. His brother, Mack Shubert, passed away on July 13, 2020. The family will receive friends in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Sunday from 6 – 8 PM, and Monday from 10 – 11 AM, the hour of service, with Rev. Kenneth Haines officiating. Interment follows in Greene County Memorial Park, with Military Honors accorded at the graveside. CDC recommendations will be observed in the funeral home.
