Stanley P. Miller, Jr.

Stanley P. Miller, Jr. of Uniontown PA passed away on Saturday April 25, 2026. Stanley “Stan” was born on January 16, 1931 in Jersey City New Jersey. He was the son of the late Stanley P. and Ellen (Burchinal) Miller, Sr of Oradell New Jersey. During his youth, Stanley spent his time enjoying his favorite pastime of baseball and spent each summer with his brother and uncles and aunt in the Gans and Smithfield area of Pennsylvania. Stanley was a graduate of the Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood New Jersey in 1949 and earned his undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut. Following his education, Stanley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in England from 1953 to 1955. After completing his military service, Stan became a math and history teacher for a private high school in Denver Colorado for several years. In the early 1960s, Stanley returned to New Jersey before settling permanently in the Smithfield and Gans area. Together with his brother, David, Stanley worked with their Uncle Edward and later became owners, of the E. L. Burchinal Store in Gans Pennsylvania for many years. Stanley married his beloved wife of 52 years Grace Morris Nehls Miller. They made their home in Uniontown with their three children: Mark Nehls, Cyndi Nehls and Douglas Miller. He is preceded in death by his wife Grace, son Mark, uncles Mac Burchinal of Smithfield and Edward Burchinal of Gans, and beloved cousin Nancy Ewing of Oklahoma City, OK. Those who remain to cherish his memory include his son Douglas Miller and wife Piper Reid Hunt of Ellicott City MD; his daughter Cyndi Pryce and husband Garry of Somerset PA; grandchildren Connor Miller of Ellicott City, MD and Lacey Jaye Beasley and husband Brandon of Uniontown PA; and great grandchildren Joshua, Milena, MacKenzi, and Killian Beasley, all of Uniontown PA. He is also survived by his brother David Miller and wife Joan of Gans, PA; nephew Scott Miller and wife Kathy; niece Kelly Fronczek and husband Bob; and great niece and great nephews Taylor Miller, Brandon Miller, and Nicholas Fronczek, all of Gans, PA. In his later years, Stanley resided at Peroni’s Personal Care Home. His children and their families express their heartfelt gratitude for the care and friendship provided by the staff and residents of Peroni’s. This kindness will always be remembered. Additionally, Stanley was recently under the care of Amedisys Hospice Care and his family would like to extend their appreciation for their support. Arrangements are under the Herod-Rishel Funeral Home in Point Marion. Military Honors will be provided by the Amvets of Hopwood Pa. The burial will be private and held at a later date.
