Paul D. Tenney

Paul Delmor Tenney, Sr., 87, of Point Marion, Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Born Sept. 29, 1923 in Hemlock, W.Va., he was a son of the late Samuel M. and Flora Sylvia Currence Tenney. A retired coal miner from Consol’s Humphrey #7 Mine in Maidsville, W.Va., he was a member of the UMWA Local 1058. As a young man, he worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Paul was a faithful member of the Point Marion United Methodist Church, where he held a number of offices over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his devoted second wife of 16 years, Mary Frances Deal Tenney; a son, Paul D. Tenney, II and wife, Josie of Morgantown; two step-children, J.R. Deal and Sharon Matthews; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jill Tenney of Grafton, W.Va., Amy and Rob Robinette, Paula Tenney, Arlene Tenney, Kelley and Dave Hebb, and Lisa McCoy, all of Morgantown, Danna and Todd Tracy of Crofton, Maryland, and Melinda and Chris Neely of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; a brother Samuel Tenney and wife Delores of Warren, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Mamie Tenney of Buckhannon, W.Va. His loving wife of 50 years, Anna Grow Tenney, passed away on April 2, 1992. Also deceased are two children, David Marc Tenney in infancy, and Kim Tenney Adams; two grandchildren, Cody Adams and Alicia Tenney; five brothers, Orva, John, Chad, Dempsey, and Carroll Tenney; and six sisters, Thelma Kane, Mildred Daniels, Gladys Calhoun, Leona Curry, Mary and Sylvia Tenney. Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion on Friday from 5 – 8 p.m., and Saturday in the Point Marion United Methodist Church from 1 – 2:00 p.m., the hour of service, with his pastor, Rev. Jay Polowsky officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Point Marion United Methodist Church, 500 Morgantown St., Point Marion, PA 15474.
