Felix A. Meale

Mr. Felix A. Meale, born April 7, 1923 in Fairmont, WV, the son of Rosa and Amalio Meale, died on Monday, June 24, 2019, at the age of 96. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Bruni Meale of Point Marion, PA; daughter, Rose Marie Meale of Edgewater, MD; son, Felix G. Meale, daughter-in-law, Uma Jha Meale, and two granddaughters, Evelyn Radhika Meale and Mira Rose Meale, of North Bethesda, MD; sisters, Marian Sapp of Fairmont, and Joan Smith of Clarksburg, WV; brothers Atelio (Ott) Meale of Fairmont and Eugene Meale of Manassas, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Felix served honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Fairmont State University and a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from West Virginia University. He also completed additional course work towards a Ph.D. degree. Felix began his teaching career in Anne Arundel County, MD, before relocating to Pittsburgh, PA in 1958 to work as a teacher in the Northgate School District for 38 years. He was well-respected in his profession and maintained lifelong friendships with his students and fellow teachers alike. Felix and his wife moved to Point Marion, PA in 2005. During his retirement years, he enjoyed exercising, gardening, making arts and crafts, and especially spending time with his two granddaughters. He was an avid reader and a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. Felix will be remembered as a gentle soul who took tremendous pride in his Italian heritage and lived life to the fullest. He had a big heart and an even bigger smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Filomena (Mini) Amodeo, Stella Hawkinberry and Josephine (Peen) Tristani. The family would like to thank Fran Butash, the angels at the Point Manor Personal Care Home, Amedisys Hospice of Masontown, and Dr. Staci Sheba, D.O., for their loving care and compassion. The memorial service will be private. Felix’s final resting place will be in Allison Park, PA. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or a holy Mass request in Felix’s name. He was a member of St. Hubert Roman Catholic Church in Point Marion. Arrangements are under the direction of the Herod-Rishel Funeral Home, 501 Morgantown Street, Point Marion, Pa. 15474.
